Saltpond (C/R), Nov 03, GNA – A registered voter who wants to transfer his or her vote to his or her new place of abode can only do that after residing in the new place for at least two consecutive months.
Mr John Mensah, Mfantseman District Electoral Officer, said any registered voter who did not spend two months at his new place would have to go to where he registered to exercise his or her franchise during the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. Mr Mensah was addressing the Manteseman District Assembly after supervising the election of the Presiding Member.
Mr Adjei Asamoah Kusi of the District Directorate of Education defeated the incumbent, Mr Frank Neequeye, to become the new PM. Mr Mensah appealed to the electorate to report electoral malpractices to the police for investigation and action.
He reminded the electorate that the Electoral Commission (EC) had no mandate to deal with electoral offences and that any offence brought to its notice had to be reported to the Police for investigation and advice.
Mr Mensah appealed to assembly members to carry the message of peace before, during and after the elections to their electoral areas and advise politicians against inciting violence. He advised them to caution the electorate against selling or exchanging their voters ID Cards for money.
