Omarie Wadie to report to BNI for further questioning today

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman held by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) over allegations that he posted a doctored picture of President Mahama having sex with a woman on facebook will Wednesday report to the BNI for further interrogation.

Mr Omari Wadie has indicated he will corporate with investigators to get to the bottom of the matter. He was granted bail on Tuesday without charge after he was detained for close to 48 hours.

Speaking to Joy News, he categorically denied the allegations against him.

He said he was in London when he heard the story, and so reports making the rounds that he has admitted to the allegations are completely false.

He, however, admits having seen the pictures, but stated it is no proof he created them. He has challenged the BNI to look for the real creators of the picture.

In a related development, Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Malik Kweku Baako has said the arrest of Omarie Wadie by the BNI can be likened to killing an ant with a sledge-hammer.

Speaking on Kokrokoo Wednesday, Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako Jn. said the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service should have been involved in the case instead.

Kwaku Baako condemned the doctored pictures, but in his view, the current situation has given undue attention to the former NPP Constituency chairman.

He said using the BNI gives room to speculate that there is a hand of the Executive in his arrest.
