Omanhene of Agona Nsaba passes away

Agona Nsaba (C/R), May 22, GNA – The Omanhene of the Agona Nsaba Traditional Area, Nana Okeseku Afari Mintah II, has passed away. The Abusuapanyin of the Dwomona Royal Family, Dr Yeboa Duodu, disclosed this when the Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur, paid courtesy call on the chiefs and elders of the town at Nsaba. He said the Queen mother of area, Nana Ama Yeboawaa II also passed away about a month ago while the Chief died on the 23rd of March this year after a short illness.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agona, Mr Ben Mensah, Mr Kwsei Agyabeng, MP for Agona East, Mr Seth Boadi, Deputy District Coordinating Director and Mr Mackenzie Armah, Assemblyman for Nsaba accompanied the Regional Minister.

Dr Duodu told Nana Arthur that President J A Kufuor would be officially informed later and said the Queen mother would be buried first while funeral arrangements for the Chief would be announced later. He said that the late Queen mother known private life as Madam Marian Mann trained in the United Kingdom as a beautician and returned to Ghana to establish a salon at Adabraka in Accra. Nana Kofi Boamah, Chief of Bogya in the Ashanti region is the widower.

Dr Duodu apologized to the Regional Minister for the recent incident at Agona Nsaba where a Policeman and two civilians were alleged to have conspired to beat a 40-year-old farmer, Akwasi Frempong to death. He said it was unfortunate that the youth took the law into their own hands and vandalized the Police Station making it impossible for the personnel to work. Nana Arthur assured the Chiefs and people of Nsaba that the Regional Co-coordinating Council would give them full support when they were going to inform the President and help them during funerals. He appealed to the Traditional Council to continue to maintain peace, unity and stability to ensure the development of the area and said that the doors of the government were always open for meaningful discussions. 22 May 07
