Old Vandals to honour 12 Ghanaians

Accra, May 30, GNA – Eleven Old Vandals and another distinguished Ghanaian will be honoured for their contributions to national development at this year’s Republic Day jamboree being organised by the Old Vandals Associations at the Commonwealth Hall Gardens, University of Ghana, Legon from Friday, July 1 to Sunday, July 3, this year.

They include Mr. Justice George Kingsley Acquah, Chief Justice of Ghana, Dr. Paul Acquah, Governor of the Bank of Ghana and two former Inspectors General of Police, Mr. Peter Nanfuri and Nana Owusu-Nsiah. The others are Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr. Kwamena Ahwoi, a former Minister in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Mr. Kwame Sarpong, Chief Executive of Cocobod and Mr. Yaw Boadu Ayeboafoh, Editor of the Daily Graphic.

The rest are Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli Traditional Area, Giddy Laryea of Media Magique and Mr. Stephen Sedofu of the National Commission on Culture, Koforidua.

Mr. Kofi Dua-Adonteng, a former National President of the Vikings of Mensah Sarbah Hall and Managing Director of Ghana Post is being honoured for his contribution to the promotion of good relationship between the Vikings and the Old Vandals.

A statement issued by the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the jamboree, Mr Tsri Apronti, who is also the National Vice President of the Old Vandals Association, called on all Old Vandals nation-wide to contribute financially to the jamboree by sending their levy of at least 100,000 cedis to the hall by June 15, this year. 30 May 05
