Old Fadama was Korle deity’s ‘spiritual ground’ – Ga Traditional Council

The Ga Traditional Council has said that the Old Fadama slum used to be a spiritual home for the Korle lagoon’s deity.

“… The present location of these structures used to be the spiritual ground of the Korle deity. Unfortunately, over time the area has been defiled,” Nii Obedro, Noyaatse of Korle-Gonno made the claims at a press conference held in Accra.

The Council has therefore applauded the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) for demolishing structures at Old Fadama.

The AMA last Saturday rendered thousands of Old Fadama residents homeless after demolishing their properties as part of measures to halt the perennial flooding in the capital city. demolition

According to Nii Obedro, they have identified Old Fadama as the cause of the Accra’s perennial flooding menace hence, support AMA’s action.

The Ga Traditional Council had earlier claimed that the cause of the June 3 fire and flood disaster was because Yvonne Nelson and her team disregarded the ban on drumming and noise making and went ahead to organize the Dumsor must stop vigil.

They also claimed that some national disasters including the May 9 stadium disaster was caused by failure on Ghanaians to adhere to the ban on drumming and noise making.
