“Old” Akufo-Addo cannot lead Ghana – Sekou

Outspoken politician, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, says he doubts if the two-time presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo can provide the kind of leadership Ghana requires to develop.

According to him, the age of the former Attorney General is increasingly becoming a problem to his ability to provide the “hands-on” leadership needed to catapult the nation to the next level.

The former Foreign Affairs minister is among six other individuals seeking to lead the NPP in the 2016 elections.

The party has set August 31 for a special election to trickle down the number of candidates from seven to five.

Speaking on Accra-based Radio XYZ, the controversial son of Ghana’s first president said it is important for the country to avoid a “repetition of what happened to the late Mills in office.”

“The age thing cannot be swept under the carpet. Age is becoming a problem for Nana Addo. As a nation, do we want to repeat what happened under Mills?”

“I don’t think Akufo-Addo can provide the kind of leadership we need. NPP winning power should not be about Akufo Addo” Dr. Sekou Nkrumah added.
