Okyenhene swears in Oseawuohene, elevates four chiefs

Kyebi, Dec. 8, GNA – The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, on Wednesday sworn-in the newly installed Akyem Wenchihene as Oseawuohene and elevated four other chiefs. At a ceremony at Kyebi, the Okyenhene swore in Daasebre Nyarko Asumadu Appiah, who is also the Chief of Akyem Wenchi as Oseawuohene. Daasebre Appiah, a businessman, first swore the oath of allegiance to the Okyenhene and the Okyeman stool and pledged to faithfully discharge his duties as Oseawuohene. The Oseawuohene said he would dedicate his life to the service of the Akyem Abuakwa and Oseawuo wing of the state. As custom demands, the Okyenhene also swore to stand by the Oseawuohene.

Daasebre Appiah was installed Oseawuohene and chief of Akyem Wenchi on September 6, 2010 and out-doored on October 9, 2010. Earlier, the Okyenhene elevated the chiefs of Adankrono, Dwenase, Adeiso and Heman from the status of Barima to Osabarima. The chiefs were Osabarima Sarpong Kumankuma II (Adankrono), Osabarima Amoah Kuku Ntriakwa II (Dwenase), Osabarima Asare Oduro II (Adeiso) and Osabarima Mirikissi Okasum Ofori-Attah (Heman).

Osagyefo Ofori Panin II in elevating the four chiefs noted that they had with honesty and dedication served the interest of Okyeman. He said they had protected Okyeman property such as its land, sometimes at the peril of their lives and therefore deserved the honour. The four chiefs promised to continue to work for the greater good of Okyeman such as promoting its progress, development, peace and the happiness of its people. 8 Dec. 10
