Okyeman Union in Belgium donates to health centre

The Akim Gyadem Health Centre in the Birim Central Municipality, has taken delivery of equipment worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

They were donated by The City of Antwerp in Belgium, in collaboration with Okyeman Union in Belgium through the Community Livelihood Support Organisation (COLISO), a local non-governmental organisation.

The items were a computer, two weighing scales, 10 plastic chairs, seven blood pressure apparatus and 4,000 syringes; all valued at GH¢10,000.

Free screening of eyes, diabetes and HIV and AIDS on pregnant women was also organised for the community.

Presenting the equipment, Mr Kwaku Boamah Achampong, President of the Ghanaian Community in Belgium, who doubles as the Patron of COLISO, stated that the gesture was aimed at bringing progress to the people and therefore, urged them to endeavour to ensure maintenance and also live in a hygienic environment.

Miss Anastasia Atiogbe, Birim Central Municipal Health Director, who received the items on behalf of the Gyadem Health Centre, thanked all players who made it possible for the donation.

Madam Susuana Achampong, in-charge of the Oda Old Town and Gyadem sub-municipality, appealed to benevolent organizations to assist the health centre.
