Okyehene and Asantehene are not enemies – Okyehene’s Chief linguist

Chief linguist of the Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, Kwaswo Antwi Boasiako says there is no grudge between his chief and the overlord of the Ashanti kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

According to him, the two ‘powerful’ chiefs are “brothers” – “there is nothing like a fight between the Okyehene and the Asantehene. They are brothers and in very good terms.”

His explanation comes after a reported ‘clash’ between the duo at the funeral grounds of the late JB Danquah at Akyem Tafo on Saturday.

The chaos, according to sources, started as the representatives of the Asantehene at the funeral led by Asamponhene, Oheneba Kwadwo Afoduor, refused to stand on their feet during the arrival of the Okyehene at the funeral grounds, an occurrence which infuriated the bodyguards of the Okyehene.

The bodyguards confronted the Asantehene’s entourage and threatened to remove the crown on the head of the Asamponhene sparking the scuffle.

Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show, ‘Ghana Montie’, Antwi Boasiako admitted the clash and described it as “unfortunate”

He stated categorically that the issue has been solved amicably by elders of the two chiefs – according to him the duo will continue with the good relationship to promote country’s culture.
