Okudjeto Ablakwa: I Am Confused

Recent happenings in the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) relating to the party’s impending National Delegates’ Congress set for July in Sunyani is confusing to Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, a deputy Minister of Information and giving him serious cause for concern.

According to him, there is a deliberate attempt by some elements within the ruling party who are simply bent on destroying the NDC; for what reason he finds it hard to fathom.

“The more I observe proceedings in the NDC, I get exceedingly confused. If you are not careful, you will develop schizophrenia or any mental disease. If you look at what is being said and the reasons that are being given to the actions that are going on, I get confused. Where are the alleged true NDC members leading this party?” he asked.

Speaking as a panelist on “Alhaji and Alhaji”, a socio-political programme on Radio Gold hosted by Suhini Alhassan, the deputy Information Minister called for calm heads and sober reflection. To him, there is definitely another motive or objective for the recent happenings in the ruling party and does not subscribe to the “just normal occurrence” explanations being bandied about by some party activists.

“We plead that we may be told the truth; why the NDC is being put through all of this. There is a deliberate attempt to destroy the NDC. However, I pray that God will help us on that return journey, where the NDC truly belongs,” he added.
