Ohene Agyekum urges electorate to reject NPP

Kumasi, Dec. 5, GNA – Mr Daniel Ohene Agyekum, a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said Tuesday’s elections offered Ghanaians a unique opportunity to reject the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its harsh economic policies.

He said after four years of mismanaging the economy, there was every indication that the NPP would further throw the country into untold economic hardships should it be returned to power. Mr Ohene Agyekum, a former Ashanti Regional Minister, was explaining the NDC manifesto on education to members of the Kumasi Polytechnic branch of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of the NDC in Kumasi at the weekend.

He called on the electorate to be wary of what he described as “stop gap measures” being adopted by the NPP to cover up for the many promises it had failed to fulfil.

He asked the students not to accept any gift or bribe to vote against their will, saying, “the NPP is throwing money here and there to entice the youth in its desperation to cling to power”.

An NDC government, he said, would take over the responsibility for the payment of water and electricity costs at second cycle boarding institutions and would also not pursue a policy of full cost recovery at the tertiary levels.
