YOU BASTARD!
Mr. Daniel Ohene Agyekum Ashanti Regional chairman of the largest opposition party N.D.C. on February 1 this year showed his intolerant colours, when he verbally attacked a top official of the Ministry of Finance at the Asafo-interchange in Kumasi, calling him a BASTARD and a THIEF.
“You are a bastard and a thief. Stupid, get down from your car and you would see…”, the fuming NDC stalwart who, once-upon-a-time soldiered on as Ashanti Regional Minister in RAWLINGS’ era, was heard blurt out .
Ohene Agyekum who apparently did not take kindly to a comment by the government official told THE SUN that the said government official made a stupid remark when he saw him in his car. “If the person claimed that I have attacked him let him report the case to the Police. I am ready to face him. I would not want to be dragged into this unproductive game. Let the person show up at any given forum and I am ready to meet him”, he told THE SUN last Thursday morning. The Ashanti Regional NDC chairman flatly refused to elaborate on the specific comment he claimed was a stupid remark, and therefore kept the exact reason for his verbal outburst under wraps.
THE SUN gathered that on February 1st around 6pm, Mr. Ohene Agyekum was spotted alighting from his car at the Asafo-Interchange traffic light, one of the many edifices constructed under the ruling NPP’s belt, and subsequently went on ahead to spray the insults on the Ministry of Finance official.
An eye witness Mr Francis Asokwa told THE SUN that he was on board a Ministry of Finance car to Kumasi at the material time with a group of people when on reaching the Asafo-interchange, they saw an NDC pick-up which had “Atta Mills’ I care for you inscription written on it”.
According to the eye witness, his host who he was traveling with passed a comment that if people did not care for GHANA in 20 years, how would Atta Mills who served four of the 20 years as vice President care a further four years ahead, in the unlikely event of being given the mandate to rule this country?
He said, after the comment what ‘we saw next was that somebody had alighted from the pick-up who we identified as Ohene Agyekum, who begun his lessons in insults.
“If some one like Mr. Agyekum who wants us to vote for his Party could not exercise tolerance so as to listen to divergent view then he does not deserve to be in politics,” Mr. Francis Asokwa who confirmed the story told THE SUN. -THE SUN
