Oguaa Christians observe Good Friday

Christians in the Cape Coast Metropolis on Friday joined their counterparts worldwide to observe “Good Friday”, which commemorates the crucifixion of Christ Jesus Christ, many centuries ago.

Clad in red and black attire to depict the mourning mood, some of them gathered in church auditoriums, Easter crusades and convention grounds for special services, while others processed through some principal streets to depict the 14 Stations of the Cross.

The 14 Stations of the Cross are series of pictures or carvings representing successive incidents during Jesus progress from his condemnation by Pilate to his crucifixion and burial.

At the Ebenezer Methodist Church, Siwdo, Reverend Alberta Appiah, Minister in charge, who preached on the theme: “Christ our example of suffering,” said the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ more than 2,000 years ago, cleansed mankind of sin, paving the way for those who believe in Him to have eternal life.

She urged Christians not to blame fellow humans in times of trials but rather ask for strength from God to endure just as Christ suffered the inhumane treatments.

Rev Appiah observed that there is greater glory after trials.

Pastor Komla Obeng, Senior Pastor of International Central Gospel Church -Grace Temple, in a sermon emphasised the power in the blood of Jesus Christ and urged Christians to believe its efficacy.

He led the congregation to pray for the sick, the aged, those troubled and for national peace.
