Oguaa Chiefs give Appiah Ofori 14 days to apologise

The Oguaa Traditional Council has given the Member of Parliament for Asikuma Odoben- Brakwa Constituency, Paul Collins Appiah Ofori, 14 days to retract statements considered offensive which he made about the Omanhene of the Oguaa Traditional area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II.

Mr. Appiah Ofori was said to have made derogatory remarks about the chiefs of Cape Coast for failing to recognize Nana Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party Flagbearer at the 2010 Fetu festival, although he had been officially invited by the chiefs.

It was reported that Appiah Ofori, immediately after the festival, launched a verbal attack on the chiefs calling them names.

But speaking on Asempa FM, an Accra based Raido Station on Saturday’s political talk show, the Adontenhene of the Oguaa Traditional Council, Nana Kwamena Nyimfa said, they will make sure the Member for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa constituency faces the wrath of the law if he fails to render the apology within the time given him.

He said, it was unfortunate for P.C Appiah Ofori to have made that remarks about the chief because the Traditional Council had already resolved the issue that ensued between the Afahye organizers and the Flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Responding to this, P.C Appiah Ofori said he will not spend time with the unnecessary demand by unscrupulous NDC activists wearing the cloak of chiefs.

According to him, he has no apology to render anybody and stands by his comments.

P.C Appiah Ofori said what happened at the durbar grounds was unfortunate and if it was intended to disgrace the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, he as an MP and also a staunch member of the biggest opposition party will not allow such a thing to happen.

“It was true Nana Addo was invited and was not given a seat at the durbar grounds which clearly shows that he (Osabarima Kwesi Atta II) is a bad chief.”
