Ofosu-Ampofo commends Krobos for continued support to the NDC

Odumase Krobo, March 25, GNA – Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Eastern Regional Minister, has commended the chiefs and people of the Krobo area for their continued support to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the years.

He said the government under the able leadership of Professor John Evans Atta Mills would ensure that the area got its fair share of the national cake as an appreciation for their unflinching support. Mr Ofosu- Ampofo made the commendation when he paid a courtesy call on Nene Sasraku the fourth, acting Konor of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area, at Odumase to officially introduce himself to the chiefs and people of the area.

The Regional Minister said he was not happy about the underdevelopment of the area since the creation of the district and attributed it to lack of support from the people. He therefore appealed to the traditional authorities to join hands with the district assembly to ensure speedy development of the area. Mr Ofosu- Ampofo assured that he would operate an open door policy in order to move the Region to a better direction. He assured them that the government would reconstruct the Odumase-Otokporlu road, which is in a deplorable state to make travelling on it easier.

Mr Ofosu- Ampofo also assured that the government would construct more buildings for basic schools to improve academic standard. Nene Sasraku congratulated Mr Ofosu- Ampofo on his appointment and urged him to ensure that he leaves a good mark after his term of office to serve as an example for other ministers to emulate. He urged him to take the fight against the HIV and AIDS serious to ensure that the prevalence rate of the disease is reduced to the barest minimum in the Region. 25 March 09
