Oforikrom MP and five others receive Papal award

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Oforikrom, Mrs Elizabeth Agyemang and five other parishioners of the New Amakom Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Kumasi have been presented with Papal awards for their singular contribution to the growth of the church.

The parishioners included Agyaba Kwame Afriyie, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Agyaba Jewellery, Mr. Akomeah Gyamfi, Businessman, Mr. Stephen Anokye Tuffour, former President of the Church, Nana Kwaku Attakorah, Krontihene of Amakom and Mr. Thomas Mensah, CEO, Abiyak Pharmacy.

The awards were presented on behalf of Pope Benedict XVI by Emeritus Archbishop Peter Kwasi Sarpong at a special mass.

He gave them high marks for their faith, dedication and service not only to the church but humanity.

He encouraged Christians to let their beliefs reflect in their daily lives and become good examples to the rest of the society.

Emeritus Archbishop Sarpong advised the Catholic youth to remain true to the values that define the church.

Mrs Agyemang said they were grateful for the recognition and pledged to continue to support the activities of the church and to do their bit to bring smiles on the faces of the poor, the vulnerable and the suffering.

She invited the rich in the society to assist the needy and the socially disadvantaged.**
