Ofori-Atta urges Govt to tackle youth unemployment

Akyem Oda, June 12, GNA – Mr Danny Ofori-Atta, National Chairman of EGLE Party last Sunday urged Government to tackle the youth unemployment problem to stem the rural-urban migration in the country. He said a National Democratic Congress (NDC)-EGLE Coalition Government on assumption of office would create opportunities for job creation among the youth.

Mr Ofori-Atta made the call at a rally organised by Akyem Oda Constituency of NDC at Akyem Oda where about 30 New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters who have defected to the NDC were introduced to the people. He said an NDC-EGLE Coalition Government would develop local products such as cocoyam leaves (Kontomire) that abound in most rural areas for export and generate revenue for the district assemblies. Mr Julius Debrah, Eastern Regional Chairman of NDC said the cost of living in the country now was high and advised party supporters to embrace whole-heartedly NPP supporters who would defect to the NDC to win the next general elections. He urged party supporters to unite and guard against divisive tendencies to ensure that the party was returned to power in 2008.

Mr Debrah called on Ghanaians to reject the NPP Government in the next general elections adding “Do not allow money consideration to influence you but carefully examine your living standards and vote according to your conscience.” Mr Kwabena Boateng, Akyem Oda Constituency Chairman of NDC, urged party supporters not to react in extreme provocation by political opponents. He said the party would always address itself to issues to sensitise the people to win more supporters and sympathisers.
