Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency NPP elect officers

Akim Ofoase (E/R), Sept. 30, GNA – The Ofoase Ayirebi constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Friday returned seven out of the nine-member out-going executive to a further four-year term of office at a delegates’ congress at Akim Ofoase. Those returned unopposed included, Mr Eric Osei-Ansere, chairman, Mr John Debra Acquah, First Vice Chairman, Mr Benard Agyei-Mensah, second vice chairman, Mr J.S. Mensah, secretary and Mr Ahenkora Marfo, assistant secretary.

The others were, Mr Kwaku Sarfo, treasurer and Miss Grace Asiedua Larbi, Women’s Organizer. Mr Alzenda Asamoah and Mr Osbourn Owusu Agyekum were elected as organizer and youth organizer, respectively. In an address, the Eastern Regional chairman of NPP, Nana Kofi Adi Ankamah, reminded the leaders that they were the foundation upon which the party would rest and they should therefore live up to expectation. He advised them to be abreast with government policies and programmes to be able to educate the people so as to counter opponents of the party from misinforming them.

The MP for the area, Mr David Oppon Kusi, tasked the leaders to closely monitor all government’s programmes in their communities to ensure that they were well implemented. He mentioned allegations that some cocoa spraying gangs in some of the areas were discriminating in the exercise and urged the people to ensure the right thing is done. The Birim North District Chief Executive, Nana Acquah Frimpong, urged the leadership to work as a team to enable the party to retain the constituency seat in the 2008 elections. Mr Osei-Anseri thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in them and called for support from all to enable them to achieve their set goals and objectives. He appealed to the government to rehabilitate the remaining portion of the Akim Oda-Nkawkaw road to enhance transportation in the area.
