Offuman (B/A), June 15, GNA – Nana Asiedu Dwamena II, Omanhene of Offuman Traditional Area in Techiman Municipality, has urged people in the area to resolve all chieftaincy conflicts and cooperate to initiate development programmes.
Nana Asiedu, who was speaking to the GNA in an interview, expressed concern about the crippling effects of chieftaincy disputes on the progress of the area and urged them “to allow sleeping dogs to lie.” The chief advised the youth not to allow partisan politics to divide their ranks, because that would have an adverse effect on the development of the area.
Nana Asiedu said the people would soon launch an education endowment fund to support needy but brilliant school children to enhance education in the area.
Nana Asiedu said the people would make special contributions and organise a fund raising rally to support the fund and that part of the royalties from his stool lands would be used to support the fund. He said letters would be sent to more than 300 citizens of the area resident in foreign countries to contribute to the fund. Nana Asiedu deplored the poor state of the 25-kilometer road that links Offuman and Tuobodom on the Techiman-Kintampo-Tamale highway and called on the MP for Techiman North, Mr Alex Kyeremeh, to help rehabilitate it.
“The poor state of the road has made it impossible for the people, who are mainly farmers, to transport their produce to marketing centres”, he said.
The people cultivate yams, cassava, maize, garden eggs and tomatoes on large scale.
