Offinsohene predicts victory for NPP

In what could be described as a sharp U-turn after initial backlash, the Paramount Chief of the Offinso Traditional Council, Nana Wiafe Akenten, has predicted victory for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The popular Asante Chief is backing the biggest opposition party with prayers to achieve a resounding victory in the December 7 polls.
Not only is the controversial wishing for the NPP victory, Nana Wiafe Akenten IV also stated emphatically that if he had money, he would have given the party enough to embark on its campaign.

Nana Wiafe Akenten made the statement when the wife of NPP’s running mate, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, together with the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, paid a courtesy call on him at his palace in Offinso.

His comments follow a controversy earlier this week he gave his throne to the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to sit on, after claiming the President and the NDC government had performed creditably well.

But in a sharp U-turn, Nana Wiafe Akenten told Mrs. Samira and her entourage that he prays the NPP wins the elections.
This was after the regional NPP Chairman had requested for his prayers and support.

Chairman Wontumi, on his part, thanked the Offinsohene for the assurance and promised to work assiduously to ensure victory for the NPP.
