Offinso South NDC thanks all supporters

Offinso (Ash), Feb. 3, GNA – Mr Kings Adu-Boahen, the Offinso South National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, has expressed the party’s appreciation and gratitude to the people in the area for their support during the 2004 parliamentary and presidential elections.

He said the party’s performance in the elections was encouraging taking into account the many factors that militated against it. Mr Adu-Boahen, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Offinso on Wednesday, contended that the party performed creditably except that it could not compete favourably with the ruling party in terms of money, logistics and incumbency.

He called on the party’s numerous supporters not to let the spirit and patriotism exhibited during the elections die down but resolutely resolve to work harder to ensure total victory in the 2008 general elections.

The major task ahead of the party, he said, was the re-organisation of its structures from the units to the branches and the constituency levels.

Mr Adu-Boahen commended Miss Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency in the 2004 elections for her courage, organisational and leadership skills, which he noted, testified to the party’s belief in the effective promotion of gender equity and empowerment to enable them actively participate in the country’s democratic process.

He thanked the party leadership, constituency executives, polling agents, supporters and other sympathisers for their selflessness, patriotism and immense support before and during the elections. Mr Adu-Boahen, however, called on the party leadership and its rank and file to unite and bury any differences in the interest of the country’s numerous suffering masses and re-build the strength and integrity of the party to ensure a resounding victory in the 2008 general elections.
