Offinso South MP interacts with media

Offinso (Ash), July 26, GNA – About 99 communities in the Offinso District are to be provided with solar energy, Mr Kwabena Sarfo, Offinso South Member of Parliament has said.

He said survey for the projects, to be undertaken by the Energy Commission had been completed.

Interacting with the media at Offinso at the weekend during which he briefed them on some of the developments he had brought to the constituency, Mr Sarfo said the Volta River Authority was connecting Kyebi and Kwapon to the national electricity grid.

He said he had secured 100 million cedis from the project management Unit of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the district assembly topped it up to rehabilitate 11 schools in the constituency. Mr Sarfo constructed four-unit accommodation for the teachers at Kyebi and Kwapanin to ensure effective teaching and learning.

Through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), a six-unit classroom block is being built at Koforidua and another six-classroom block is under construction at Anyinasuso.

The MP said he had also ensured the completion of the Home Science Block for the Dwamena Akenten Secondary School, built a hostel for girls at the Namong Secondary/Technical School and bought a vehicle for the school.

From his share of the common fund, Mr Sarfo said he had instituted a scholarship scheme for 80 students.

On roads, the MP said the 10.2-kilometre Offinso-Kokote-Namong road that serves about 60 per cent of the population in the constituency was being tarred.
