Offinso South confirms MCE and PM

Offinso (Ash), June 2, GNA – Baffour Kesse Amankwaa, the President= ‘s nominee for the Offinso South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) position, has received overwhelming endorsement by the assembly. He polled 42 out of the 43 votes cast.

The assembly, earlier, elected Mr Prempeh Pambour Karikari as its Presiding Member (PM), after two previous attempts ended in stalemate. This became possible when his other challenger, Mr Emmanuel Okofo Asenso, withdrew from the contest. Mr Karikari picked 39 out 43 votes in the election, supervised by the Electoral Commission. The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Kwaku Ageyman Mensah, counselled members of the assembly to always consider the interest of the majority of the people, they were representing, to ensure that their decisions positively impacted on the development of the municipality. Nana Wiafe Akenteng III, Paramount Chief of Offinso, lauded the contribution of the chiefs to the socio-economic progress of the area. He advised the assembly members not to allow their deliberations to be bogged down by partisan politics, adding that, their focus should be on, bringing development to the people.

Mr Amankwaa thanked the members for the confidence and pledged to work together with them to transform the municipality.
