Offinso assembly members demand MCE’s removal

A group of assembly members of the Offinso Municipal Assembly have called for the removal of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Baffour Amankwaah Kesse, accusing him of non-performance.

They insist he had failed to live up to expectation and should not be allowed to mess up the development of the municipality.

They have therefore called for an emergency meeting of the assembly to pass a vote of no confidence in him.

The spokesman of the group, Mr Gabriel Asante, told a press conference at Offinso that they had already presented an 11-point petition to the Presiding Member to convene a meeting of the assembly.

Issues bothering on socio-economic progress of the people, including the improvement of roads, markets, environmental sanitation and electricity extension, he said, had not received any attention since Mr Kesse’s assumption of office about 10 months ago.

Sub-committee reports discussed at the assembly’s executive meetings are never captured in the MCE’s sessional address to the general assembly, they claimed.

Mr Asante said the aggrieved members, numbering 20, have vowed to boycott all meetings of the assembly until their demand for a no confident vote was met.
