Official says more rains expected

Accra, May 20, GNA – Torbgui Fiamekor, Principal Meteorological Officer at The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMeT), Airport, has said current conditions would favour cloud formation and rain between now and June. This, he said, meant that the country would continue to experience average rainfall.

Togbui Fiamekor said with these favourable conditions moisture flow from the sea, which is warmer, and favourable flow from high levels indicated that the rains and storms would continue during the period. He said the intensity of the rains would be normal with any exceptions around the southern coastal areas and might not cause floods. However there was a possibility of flash floods (temporary flooding caused by inability of the water to flow freely especially when drains are choked)if gutters and drains are not cleared.
