Official says BECE was successful

Bolgatanga, April 29, GNA – An official of the Ghana Education Service, Mr Mac Nabia, has commended the West African Examinations Council for conducting a smooth leakage free BECE this year. “The conduct of the examination was smooth with no reports of leakages and the materials were adequate and readily available when they were needed,” Mr Nabia, a Deputy Director of Education, told the GNA in an interview.

He said 2,546 candidates made of 1,183 boys and 1,363 girls in the Bolgatanga Municipality sat for the examination.

Mr. Nabia said only six pupils, four girls and two boys, were absent. He commended the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly for monitoring the examination and appealed to teachers to teach their students honesty and fair play in whatever examination they write.

Mr Nabia said the just ended Upper East Education Sector Review revealed that Bolgatanga Municipal scored 57.5 per cent passes in the 2009 BECE and expressed the hope 2010 would be better.
