Official: Mahama starts campaign June

President John Mahama and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) will kick off their political campaign ahead of the November 7 polls at the end of June, Communications Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah has disclosed.

Speaking on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM Thursday April 21, Dr Omane Boamah reiterated that President Mahama’s Accounting to the People tour across the country was not a political campaign.

Some opposition parties like the New Patriotic Party and the Progressive People’s Party, have raised concerns of abuse of incumbency by the governing party and the president regarding his nationwide tours.

According to them, Mr Mahama and his NDC were using state resources to campaign ahead of the November polls.

“I’m not on the campaign trail,” Mr Mahama replied his critics during a tour of the Volta Region Wednesday April 20.

He said he would be in a party T-shirt and go round campaigning when that time was due.

Mr Mahama has insisted his tour is to showcase to Ghanaians what he has been able to do so far with the mandate he was given in 2012.
