Office of Civil Service to enforce punctuality

Tepa (Ash), July 7, GNA- The Office of the Head of Civil Service has drawn up a scheme which would enforce punctuality and work ethics for civil servants, Mr Akwasi Adu-Poku, the Ahafo-Ano North District Chief Executive, has announced.

He has therefore advised heads of departments to ensure that their subordinates were punctual to work and also leave office only at closing time.

Mr Adu-Poku who was addressing heads of departments, boards and agencies at Tepa on Monday enjoined workers to work hard to raise productivity so as to transform the economy.

He pointed out that the government in its efforts at improving upon the national economy was actively involving the private sector in the social and economic development of the country.

If this objective is to be achieved, then government departments, agencies, boards and corporations have a crucial role to play by providing the necessary support for the private sector.

Mr Adu-Poku called for periodic in-service trainings as a way of building staff capacity to handle new trends in governance and added that they should therefore not let their work discourage or frustrate the private investors.

Mr Vincent Amissah, the District Co-ordinating Director, asked heads of departments to submit their quarterly and annual reports to the district assembly promptly to enable the assembly to prepare its report to the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) on time. He warned that any head of department who failed to do so would be dealt with.

The workers appealed to the assembly as a matter of urgency to rehabilitate some of the staff quarters they were occupying. GNA
