Odotobiri CPP selects parliamentary candidate

Jacobu (Ash), Oct. 1, GNA – The Odotobiri Constituency branch of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), on Tuesday selected elected Mr. Blessing Owusu, a 23-year- old teacher, to contest the seat, at a delegate’s congress at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of Ashanti.

The parliamentary aspirant was chosen by popular acclamation by all the 63 delegates in the polls supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC). Mr. Samuel Kwabena Danso, Regional Chairman of the Party, advised CPP executives in Odotobiri to intensify their campaigns to boost the chances of the CPP in Election 2008.

He said “The grounds seemed fertile for a possible breakthrough by the CPP after the New Patriotic Party failed to deliver on its campaign promise of improving on the living conditions of the people.” He said the people in the constituency were yearning for change as their social amenities including classroom blocks, hospitals, roads and water were in deplorable state. Mr. Owusu commended the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and promised to work hard to ensure victory for the party.
