Odoi-Sykes To Launch Book On The Life Of Kufuor

Mr. Charles Agyei-Amoama, Deputy Head of Ghana’s mission in Ottawa, today announced that there will be an official launch of the American cloth-edition of Between Faith And History-A Biography of J.A. Kufuor at the Travelodge Hotel, 2737 Keele Street, Toronto between 3.00pm and 7.00pm on Saturday, 31st January, 2004, by His Excellency Mr. Samuel Odoi-Sykes, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada. The book, published by the Africa World Press of Princeton, New Jersey was written by Ivor Agyeman-Duah, a journalist and currently a Minister Counsellor and Head of the Public Affairs Section of the Ghana Embassy in Washington.

According to Mr. Agyei-Amoama, the guest speaker at the launch will be Mr. Jeffery D. Steiner, President and CEO of the Toronto Economic Development Corporation, who will speak on Africa-Canadian relations in the context of the topic “Why Between Faith and History is Necessary”. The author, whose Centre for Intellectual Renewal in Ghana first published the Ghanaian edition of the book last year, will be speaking on the subject “Presidential Biographies and Democracy in Ghana”, after which he will sign copies of the book.

Between Faith and History is a short but in-depth narrative of the life of His Excellency Mr. J. A. Kufuor, president of the Republic of Ghana, from his birth, to the time of his election as President of Ghana’s Fourth Republic in December 2000. It has a foreword by renowned African political scientist Prof. Ali A. Mazrui and will be used this year as a text in the ‘Leadership in Africa’ Political Science class at Indiana University, USA.
