Oda police arrests suspected armed robber

Akyem Oda, April 06, GNA – Nuadri Mumuni, 17, a suspected armed robber has been arrested by the Akyem Oda Police and placed in custody for investigations.

Personnel of the Akyem Oda Divisional Police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) on routine patrols arrested the suspect, who was travelling from Akyem Wenchi to Akyem Oda at dawn on Thursday April 6, following a tip-off.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sampson Agbeko, Divisional Crime Officer, told the Ghana News Agency that when the suspect was searched, a locally manufactured pistol with two live cartridges, a wrapper of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a military cap and 104,000 cedis cash were found on him.

ASP Agbeko said the suspect during interrogation denied being an armed robber but rather some illegal diamond winners employed him to watch over their concessions.

He said the suspect claimed the pistol was for protection and smoked the Indian hemp to keep him awake.
