Oda Methodist School block handed over

Akim Oda (E/R), March 31, GNA – A 200-million-cedi classroom block for the Akim Oda Old Town Methodist JSS was handed over to the school authorities with a call on parents not to hesitate to invest in their children’s education.

The Brim South District Director of Education, Mrs Stella Nanor, who made the call, reminded parents that the farmlands and diamond concessions, which they were relying on, were now exhausted. “You should, therefore, send your children to school and ensure that they attain the highest level on the educational ladder, so as to be able to face the challenges of today’s world”, she added. The Akim Oda Old Town Wesley Methodist Church, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and the District Assembly jointly financed the office, store, a library and three classrooms.

The Very Rev. Kwaku Kwarteng, the Superintendent Minister of the Akim Asene Methodist Church-Ghana, expressed concern about the involvement of the youth in criminal activities of late and therefore, called on school authorities to enforce discipline to inject sanity in children at an early age.

In a welcoming address, the Headmistress of the school, Mrs Dora Impraim, mentioned problems facing the school as the reluctance of some parents to pay their wards’ school levy and lack of furniture in the lower primary, among other things.

She also expressed concern about truancy on the part of pupils, especially on Thursdays, which are the market days, and appealed to parents to help redress the situation.
