Obuasi presiding member condemns Atronie youth action

Obuasi, April 30, GNA – Nana Asirifi Asare II, the Presiding member of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly has condemned the mob action by the Atronie youth that led to the death of the presiding member of the Asunafo North District Assembly in the Brong-Ahafo region. The late Joseph Yeboah Boateng, who is the Administrator of the Goaso Government Hospital, was said to be returning from Sunyani with the dead body

of a relative in his private vehicle when the uncontrolled youth attacked and murdered him in a cold blood. Nana Asirifi Asare said such a riotous behaviour should not be tolerated in the country, more especially at a time that the country had won international recognition.

The presiding member said the ordeal his departed colleague passed through was unfortunate and prayed that his family and co-workers would be rewarded with a big heart to contain the sorrowful situation. He said as a result of irresponsible and lawless behaviour of some youth, the health sector, the Asunafo North District Assembly and the entire nation had lost a valuable human resource.

Nana Asirifi Asare commended the police for their swift action which had led to the arrest of some of the perpetrators of the crime. He encouraged the police not to relax but to continue with the operation till discipline was brought to the area.

The presiding member appealed to the law courts to ensure that those found guilty were not spared at all, stressing that the befitting punishment should be meted out to serve as a deterrent to other youth who were interested in taking the law into their own hands. Nana Asirifi Asare advised parents to guide their children against picking up doubtful and suspicious friends.
