Obempong confirmed as DCE

Ajumako (C/R), June 8, GNA – Mr Kenneth Obempong, was on Tuesday confirmed as the District Chief Executive for the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District after an election held at Ajumako. The election conducted by the officials of officials of the Electoral Commission, recorded 42 out of 58 votes cast in favour of Mr Obomeng representing 72.4 per cent, while 16 members voted against his candidature.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Obempong expressed his gratitude to President Kufuor for re-nominating him and promised to work harder than before to justify the confidence reposed in him. He thanked the Assembly members for confirming his nomination and expressed the hope that they would continue to give him the necessary support to fight against poverty and develop the District. Mr Obempong said during his four-year term in office, the Assembly executed 120 projects comprising schools, clinics, toilets and quarters for workers. Mr Asmah Akwasi Asiedu, the District Magistrate swore Mr Obempong into office.
