Obed Asamoah was right to re-join NDC- DFP supporter

Accra, July 22, GNA – Mr Stephen Ashitey-Adjei, a 2008 parliamentary candidate in Tema for the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), on Friday defende= d the decision of the Life Patron of the party to re-join the ruling National Democratic Party (NDC). z- “It is unfortunate that a section of the media is describing the mov= e by Dr Obed Asamoah as opportunistic and hypocritical,” he said. Mr Ashitey- Adjei who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said the move by Dr Asamoah was a confirmation that the NDC had improved on its internal democratic credentials.

He said the NDC had also validated the assertion by Dr Asamoah that “the NDC has matured”.

Mr Ashitey- Adjei debunked media publications that the DFP existed onl= y on paper, saying 93the DFP is rooted in its ideology and members are happy= to re-join their mother party on the basis of=85 principles and core values”= .. He asked those condemning Dr Asamoah’s decision to put an end to it since it was his democratic right to choose to belong to a political party.

“There are no permanent friends and permanent enemies in the politic= al arena.” Mr Ashitey- Adjei lauded President John Evans Atta Mills and the hierarchy of the NDC for taking a very wise decision to incorporate Dr Asamoah and DFP members into the NDC and urged them to continue to take decisions based on scientific principles of management in order to defeat political opponents in future elections.
