Obed and Kwabena Adjei to fight for Chairmanship

Koforidua, Dec. 21, GNA – Unconfirmed information filtering out at the grounds of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) which is expected to be officially opened on Thursday at Koforidua, indicate that, the position of the National Chairman of the party had become a straight fight between Dr Obed Asamaoh and Dr Kwabena Adjei.

Information reaching Ghana News Agency indicate that Mr Victor Gbeho had withdrawn from the race and Mr Fred Ohene-Kena, former Eastern Regional Chairman of the party who earlier expressed his intention to contest for the chairmanship had now shifted to contest for the position of a Vice-Chairman.

Other names which were mentioned for vying for the Vice-Chairmanship include Mr Kweku Baah, Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, Mr E. T. Mensah and Ms Shirley Ayitey.

Ms Margaret Clerk-Kweisi seemed to go unopposed at the National Treasurer, while Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo would had to face Mr Kofi Portuphy for the position of National Organiser.

Names that had come up for the position of General Secretary include, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Mr Bede Ziedeng, Mr Antwi Boasiako-Sekyere and Mr Sylvestor Mensah.

For the post of Deputy General Secretary, names that came out include Mr Baba Jamal and Mr Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah .

Meanwhile the Eastern Regional Chairman of the Party, Mr Julius Debrah had assured media personnel that his office would be in the position to provide the full information on people who had filed their nominations to contest for the various positions by evening of Wednesday.
