Nyinahin SHS spends on infrastructure

Nyinahin (Ash), March 31, GNA – The Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School (SHS) in the Atwima-Mponua District has completed the construction of a dining hall at the cost of 45,000 Ghana cedis from its own resources.

Mr Anthony William Mensah, the Headmaster, said it had also rehabilitated the boys’ dormitory at the cost of 25,000 Ghana cedis. The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports is rehabilitating a five-unit classroom block at the cost of 13,100 Ghana cedis and that the school has bought musical instruments to enhance musical skills of the students.

He said some of the challenges facing the school included inadequate classrooms, office equipment, lack of staff living accommodation and a kitchen and appealed to the government, the district assembly, citizens of the area and organizations to assist. The school, which was established by the Catholic Church about 12 years ago with 60 students, has an enrolment of more than 600 out of which 300 are boarders. The school placed first in the Ashanti Region Computer Programming Competition held in Kumasi early this year.
