Nyinahin hospital project receives support

Nyinahin (Ash), Aug 11, GNA – An abandoned GH¢50,000 block to house the reproductive and child health unit of the Nyinahin Government Hospital has been given a new lease of life following intervention by Milicom Ghana Limited, operators of TIGO.

The company is providing support for completion of the project, construction works on which had stalled for more than 10 years due to the difficulty of funding.

Mr Samuel Sarpong, TIGO’s Northern Territory Manager, said this was a demonstration of their commitment to the welfare of especially mothers and children.

The company was proud to be associated with efforts at bringing some comfort to the people in the area, who are predominantly farmers.

Mr Sarpong said he was confident the facility would bring joy to many families as mothers and children would have access to professional health care.

He said the company would continue to live up to its social responsibility to the people.

Mrs Theresa Adomako, Atwima-Mponua District Chief Executive, said the people were grateful to the company for the gesture.

Dr Issifu Adam Alhassan, the Medical Superintendent, said he was sure the hospital and TIGO would work to strengthen their relationship.

He said he also has every reason to believe that the October deadline for completion of the project would not be missed.

Mrs Belinda Baffoe Bonney, the District Director of Health, appealed to the company to extend assistance to other health facilities in the district.
