Nyetina gets new school block

Nyetina (W/R), Sept 19 – Mr Christopher Addai, the Deputy Minister of Ports, Harbours and Railways, has said the introduction of the capitation grant fulfils the government’s resolve to ensure equal access to basic education by all school going children. He said the government was also working to expand school infrastructure at all levels and motivate teachers in order to provide quality education to the pupils.

Mr Addai said this at the inauguration of a 250-million- cedi primary school at Nyetina in the Bibiani-Anwhiaso-Bekwai District in the Western Region on Friday.

The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Assembly financed the block of three classrooms with an office and toilet facilities. Mr Addai, who is also the MP for the area, said the assembly had undertaken some school projects to improve access to quality education in the district.

He advised the people in the area to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the government and send their children to school to enable them attain high levels of education. Mr Kingsley Agyei Manu, the District Chief Executive, expressed regret that most of the people in the district had not registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHISC) and appealed to them to do so when the registration is re-opened in January next year. He urged the unit committee members and other opinion leaders to organise the people to undertake development projects.

Nana Osei Mensah, the chief of the town, thanked the assembly for the facility and appealed for additional block of three classrooms. 19 Sept 05
