NYEP dressmakers in Ho receive free sewing machine

Ho, Sept. 20, GNA – Ninety-five beneficiaries of the dressmaking module of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) in the Ho Municipality on Tuesday received free sewing machines.

The beneficiaries, mainly young women would also be assisted to establish workshops.

The initiative, that was collaboration between the NYEP and Asongtaba, a private entity, formed part of government’s efforts at tackling youth unemployment in the country.

Mr Isaac Kodobissah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, who presented the machines to the beneficiaries, asked them to work hard to improve their standard of living to justify the initiation of the programme.

Mr Kamboe Nicodemus, Volta Regional Project Officer of Asongtaba, said the group supported the NYEP to prepare young people for the future.

He said 696 young people had been trained under the programme in the Region with 95 of them from the Ho Municipality.

Mr Nicodemus said the second phase of the programme had seen an increase from the 696 to 2,439 beneficiaries in the Region and 95 to 411 in the Ho Municipality.

Mr Joseph Amevor, Ho Municipal Coordinator of the NYEP, said the beneficiaries would be monitored and helped to establish themselves.
