Nyanyano to benefit from 800 million-cedi nursery school projects

Gomoa Nyanyano (C/R), June 15, GNA – The First Lady Mrs Theresa Kufuor on Wednesday cut the sod for work to begin on an 800 million-cedi nursery school project at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central Region. The “Mother and Child Foundation” (MCF) is sponsoring the project, which comprises three training sheds for young mothers and three classrooms for cr=E8che and nursery.

Mrs Kufuor, who is the patron of the MCF, urged the parents in the area to take the education of their children seriously since it was the best investment that they could make.

She called on the chiefs and people to put in place a good maintenance culture in order to increase the lifespan of the structure. Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs (MOWAC), urged parents to invest in their children’s education since it had been identified as the best way to development. She also called on the chiefs and opinion leaders in the community to show interest in the programmes of the school as well as its maintenance.

Nana Joseph Arthur, who represented the Chief of Nyanyano, appealed to the First Lady to help to rehabilitate the road that linked the town with the Kasoa-Winneba road. He also called on the Government to extend pipe-borne water from the Weija Treatment Plant to the town since the people had had to rely on tanker service, which was very expensive.
