NYA partners Barclays Bank & Suncity Radio to fight youth unemployment

The Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinator of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Mr. Pascal Assan Edwards has declared his outfit’s readiness to addresses the thorny national issue of graduate unemployment, and by extension, youth unemployment with particular reference to the Brong Ahafo Region.

He said research has revealed that 65% of the unemployed in Ghana falls within the range of 15-24 years. Mr. Edwards was speaking on Suncity Radio, on the way forward towards solving youth unemployment in Brong Ahafo and Ghana as a whole. He noted that the menace could be attributed to to lack of employable skills, the capacity and ability to fit well in the competitive local and international job markets.

?It is in this vein that the NYA in collaboration with Suncity Radio and the Barclays Bank Ready to Work Project is organizing a one-day orientation seminar at Sunyani on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016 at the Adult Education center to prepare and equip participants with the requisite skills to be gainfully employed?, he elaborated.

The NYA Regional Coordinator disclosed that Barclays Bank Ready to Work Project was committed to providing learning materials that could help young people to develop work skills, people skills, money skills and entrepreneurship skills to make them more marketable and have an edge over their competitors on the job market and thus reduce unemployment in the region and the nation.
