Nursing mothers treated on benches at Aflao Govt Hospital

Some patients who patronise the Ketu South Municipal hospital in Aflao in the Volta region are treated on benches due to congestion at the facility.

Others who could not get the benches sit on the floor to access medical care.

The 100-bed facility which serves as the main referral center for several clinics has not seen any major renovation since it was upgraded some 17 years ago.

The Matron of the facility Innocentia Anthonio told Starr News’ Lambert Atsivor the facility requires immediate help to remedy the situation.

“Averagely we deliver ten a day but the labour ward is too small so some people sit on benches and we monitor them on the benches because we don’t have beds for them.

“Even when you go to the antenatal you see people sitting on the floor and in the corridor, we see over hundred clients a day.

“So we are appealing to anybody who can help to come to our aid because our wards are too small,” she bemoaned.
