Nurses in deprived areas to get special allowances

Ajumako (C/R) May 15, GNA-Nurses serving in deprived areas of the country, will now receive special allowances and “fast track promotions”, Professor Agyeman Badu Akosah, Director- General of the Ghana Health Service, announced this on Thursday. Prof Akosah, who was addressing nurses and para-medical staff at the

Ajumako hospital, as part of a week-long working visit to the Central Region, said the Service would also honour best workers. Touching on the performance of their duties, Prof Akosah stressed that the role of the nurse is to ensure quality health care delivery and

urged nurses to treat patients with courtesy. Mr Wilberforce Adade, the District Director of Health Services in a welcoming address, said the hospital lacked facilities like operating theatre, x-ray department and office and residential accommodation for the staff. He hoped the provision of these facilities would enhance clinical services and empower the staff to further develop their skills.

Prof. Akosah, had earlier called on Mr Kenneth Obempong District Chief Executive for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, during which they discussed efforts and ways to fully equip the hospital.
