The Nungua Traditional Council has paid a familiarization visit to stool lands under the traditional council’s jurisdiction.
The council led by its president and paramount chief of Nungua, King Odaifio Welentsi III, visited some facilities in the Nungua municipality to get first hand information on their activities and officially introduce the new paramount chief to them.
King Odaifio Welentsi III with his entourage visited the HFC Bank, Ecobank, Uni Bank and Kasapreko companies in the municipality.
Addressing the media, King Welentsi III said Nungua has been given a new status of a paramount stool and it was therefore appropriate to introduce the new traditional council to the institutions in the town.
He said for a long time, chieftaincy disputes have deprived the town from developing to its full potential because businesses did not know who to give their support to.
He however noted that the town has resolved the dispute and has legally now inaugurated a council that they could work with.
“We noticed that if we are no longer having chieftaincy disputes we should go and show ourselves to the companies so they know us so together we can move the metropolis forward,” he said.
He said, “Nungua is not what it previously used to be, now we have traditional council so we can channel all the needed supports we can to give to the council and the people, to help improve the community.”
He said businesses could embark on initiatives like granting of scholarships and employments creation as means of supporting the indigenes of the town.
Richard Adei, Deputy Managing Director of Kasapreko Company Limited who received the council on behalf of the company said it was a great initiative that the paramount chief and his entourage had come to familiarize themselves with the operation of the company.
“ I am sure they are very appreciative of what we are doing here and we are glad they have come to visit us,” he said.
He said the company has since its inception in Nungua, employed a lot of indigenes as their way of supporting the township.
Mr Adjei called on other individuals and institutions also to come and visit the company adding that the company would soon be introducing new range of non-alcoholic drinks to the market.
“Kasapreko is a great Ghanaian story that has risen from a cottage to a multi-national company and everybody is welcomed,” he said.
The company presented bottles of drinks and a cash amount of GH¢1000 to the traditional council for coming to familiarize themselves with the activities of the company.
