Accra, March 15,GNA – Mrs Mercy Bampoe-Addo, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs-Designate, on Tuesday said the number of Ministers and Deputy Ministers was right for government business. Appearing before the Appointment Committee of Parliament, she said:” The number is just right”.
On the New Patriotic Party’s criticism of the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) Administration for having 77 ministers, she said,”perhaps, it did not put its case across very well.” She said the Government was serious about its fight against corruption.
“The Office of Accountability is no fluke. It stands for that commitment and it is very necessary.”
The nominee, who is President Kufuor’s Speechwriter, said martial rape was barbaric and that perpetuators should be castrated. Later, Madam Rita Iddi, Deputy Minister of Lands, Forestry and Mines appeared before the Committee.
