NUGS statement on Workers Day

STATEMENT OF THE NATIONAL UNION OF GHANA STUDENTS (NUGS)
ON TUESDAY, 1 MAY, 2012 WORKERS DAY CELEBRATION
Ghanaian Workers Are the Drivers of Our Nation’s Economy
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) stands with all Ghanaian workers most
especially today as we mark yet another milestone in the life of our industrious and creative
working force.
We remember you with profundity due largely to sometimes the hazardous conditions some
of you workers had to make do with in order for the wheels of our country’s economy to run
continuously into the future.
As you mark today Tuesday, 1 May, 2012, as the Workers Day, know this; that the students of
this nation shares in your hardships and successes even as we prepare ourselves to boldly
enter into the coming year.
Let us eschew and condemn those acts that draw us back as a country especially intemperate
statements from our leaders and look into the coming year with alacrity, confidence,
cheerfulness, and hope.
Our advise to the Political leadership of our country is that, the peace we enjoy in Ghana did
not come about as result of our violent, intemperate and inciteful speeches in the pre and
post independence era but rather as a result of our preparedness to match boldly into the
future by holding our hands together in brotherhood.
Let us give chance to brotherly love to rein in this beautiful country and by so doing our
nation will find its niche internationally as the fasters growing economy in Sub-Sahara Africa.
From the President Mr. Osman Ayariga and the entire students of Ghana we say a huge
AYEKOO to our brave workers and we say may God bless us all.
