NUGS denies receiving minibus

Accra, Jan. 13, GNA – The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) on Friday denied media reports that it received a 269 million-cedi minibus last Wednesday from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

“NUGS must add that it was not informed of the said donation, neither did it delegate nor ask of any of our Past Leaders to receive the donation on our behalf,” it said.

A statement signed by Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, President of NUGS, said no Past Executive of the Union could either act for or on behalf of the NUGS without authorization from sitting Executives, even if the said project was initiated by that Executive.

It stated that if the donation was meant for NUGS as media reports indicated, and not for some Past Executives, it would appeal to the Committee of Vice Chancellors – Ghana (VCG) and GETFund to hand over the bus to the current Executives.
