NUGS calls for peace in Cote d’Ivoire

Accra, Dec 8, GNA – The National Union of Ghana Students on Wednesday called on students of Cote D’Ivoire both home and abroad to preserve the sanctity of the country’s democratic tenets in the wake of the crises in that country. A statement in Accra called on the students to help resolve the political impasse in that country. “Cote d’Ivoire had in recent times been engulfed in conflicts that have derailed its economic and social gains which is regrettable by all standards.”

It said the volatile political environment did not also allow for the progress of the West African sub region. The statement appealed to President John Atta Mills to demonstrate the true spirit of peace building and statesmanship to bring peace to Cote d’Ivoire. 8 Dec. 10
