Ntotroso Community Nursing School admits first batch in October

The Ntotroso Community Nursing Training School takes off in October with the admission of the first batch of students, Barima Twereku Ampem II, Chief of Ntotroso, has told the GNA.

He said the school, being established by the Ntotroso Traditional Council, is a joint collaboration with Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation.

Barima Twereku Ampem said the Foundation had released GHS700, 000 and work had begun on site and that the amount was part of the 2011 inflow.

He said the Council was working on the accreditation with the National Accreditation Board through the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to make the October 2013 admission possible for the intake of pioneer students.

He said in addition to the purchase of an 18-seat Nissan Urvan Mini-bus by the Council to facilitate transportation, it had rehabilitated a portion of the palace as temporary accommodation for the students.

Barima Twereku Ampem said the Council had liaised with the Asutifi North District Assembly to release an eight-bedroom house to be used as accommodation for tutors.

Kwabena Ntim-Adjei, a retired educationist and a member of the Interim Board of Governors of the School said the infrastructure development would be prioritised.

He said they would initially focus on classroom blocks, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) laboratory, demonstration rooms, administration and staff offices.
